You are strongly encouraged to join University Animal Care LISTSERV called "Animal Scoop". Animal Scoop is
the primary means by which UAC notifies investigators of laboratory animal
related issues that are of vital concern to your research. In
addition, the listserv provides a forum to discuss issues related to animal
research and to encourage the sharing of expertise within our University
related to animal research.
University Animal Care is committed to provide the best service possible to our customers. Meetings
to explore approaches to improve communication, training and service to our
investigators resulted in the formation of Animal Scoop, the "alert" system
wherein we can notify you of diseases, power outages, or other emergency
situations in a matter of minutes. In the past, this involved much
paperwork, the campus mail system, and/or phone calls which did not allow
expedient notification.
Among the topics that may be discussed are: technical information, resources, animal diseases,
facility issues, husbandry issues, security issues, notices of local
comparative medicine and laboratory animal science seminars, and requests
for local assistance with animal research.
UAC requests that at least one member of each laboratory that utilizes research animals subscribe
to animal scoop since this is the primary method used to disseminate
important information to the users of research animals on campus. Please
check with other members in your laboratory to ensure this is the case.
